March 5, 2016 “TrusTed” (one of his campaign slogans) Ted Cruz, born in a foreign nation to an alien father, is running for President. Eligibility to be elected President is found in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 which provides: "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." Since Cruz was born in 1970, he must be not only a “citizen” of the United States, but a “natural born citizen” of the United States in order to be eligible to be elected President.
